Novena to the Holy Feet of Jesus

Some time ago, as I was praying for a certain person, I felt the Lord wished me to offer a novena to the Holy Feet of Jesus for this person. However, when I tried to find a novena to the Holy Feet of Jesus, I could not. When I told the Lord I was having trouble finding this novena, I felt him say to me, “Write one.”

I began by searching Scripture for references or implied references to the Holy Feet of Jesus. I was surprised by how many there were and felt inspired to write the novena which follows.

Shortly after writing the novena, the movie, Passion of the Christ, was released in theaters. As I watched the movie, I was amazed to see that it included a scene in which Our Lady tenderly kisses the feet of her crucified son. I was very moved by this scene and felt it confirmed my call to write the novena.

I include it here for you to make use of as the Lord leads you. The Scripture references may be used to deepen your prayer.

May Our Lord bless you as you contemplate his Holy Feet, the living bridge between heaven and earth.

Novena to the Holy Feet of Jesus

Day One – With Mary and Joseph we adore the Infant Feet of Jesus (Lk. 2: 8-19)

Beloved Jesus, your infant feet, cared for and adored by Mary and Joseph, were a visible sign of your innocence and purity. May we strive always to imitate your innocence and purity. As we adore your Holy Feet, may your merits win for us the requests we make to the Father in your name. (Make requests here.)

Holy Feet of Jesus we kiss you and adore you. (Pray the Our Father ten times.)

Day Two – The Holy Feet of Jesus bridge Heaven and Earth (Jn. 1: 14)

Beloved Jesus, your Holy Feet were the living bridge between Heaven and Earth. Each step you took sanctified and cleansed the world you came to save. May we be filled with unending gratitude for this amazing grace. We adore your Holy Feet as we make our requests with confidence in your saving love. (Make requests here.)

Holy Feet of Jesus we kiss you and adore you. (Pray the Our Father ten times.)

Day Three – The Holy Feet of Jesus carry the Good News to the poor (Mt. 11: 4-5)

Beloved Jesus, how your Holy Feet suffered as they trod the hot and dusty roads of the Holy Land to bring the Good News to the poor. May we imitate your untiring devotion in spreading the Gospel message. As we adore your Holy Feet, so battered for our sake, may you look with kindness upon our requests. (Make requests here.)

Holy Feet of Jesus we kiss you and adore you. (Pray the Our Father ten times.)

Day Four – Jairus falls at the Holy Feet of Jesus to make his request (Mk. 5: 22-43)

Beloved Jesus, you had mercy on Jairus who fell at your Holy Feet and made supplication to you for the life and health of his daughter. In your mercy you rewarded his faith and answered his prayer. May you look with mercy on us also as we fall at your Holy Feet to make our requests in faith and trust. (Make requests here.)

Holy Feet of Jesus we kiss you and adore you. (Pray the Our Father ten times.)

Day Five – Mary sits at the Holy Feet of Jesus listening to him (Lk. 10: 38-42)

Beloved Jesus, you told Martha that her sister Mary had chosen the “better part” in choosing to sit at your feet and listen to you. Like Mary, may we always choose the better part. As we sit at your Holy Feet to listen to you and worship you, may you look on our requests with love and compassion. (Make requests here.)

Holy Feet of Jesus we kiss you and adore you. (Pray the Our Father ten times.)

Day Six – A woman kisses the Holy Feet of Jesus (Lk. 7: 36-50)

Beloved Jesus, this woman bathed your Holy Feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. She covered your feet with kisses and anointed them with costly oil. May we also show you great love in gratitude for all we have been given and forgiven. With confidence and trust in your great love for us, we humbly make our requests to you today. (Make requests here.)

Holy Feet of Jesus we kiss you and adore you. (Pray the Our Father ten times.)

Day Seven – The Holy Feet of Jesus are nailed to the cross (Mk. 15: 25)

Beloved Jesus, you allowed your Holy Feet to be nailed to the cross out of love for us. You allowed your precious blood to spill to the earth from the wounds made by the nails. Give us the courage we need to stand at the foot of the cross–with our Blessed Mother and St. John–and kiss your Holy Feet. May the precious blood shed from your Holy Feet win for us the requests we humbly make today. (Make requests here.)

Holy Feet of Jesus we kiss you and adore you. (Pray the Our Father ten times.)

Day Eight – The disciples embrace the Holy Feet of the risen Lord (Mt. 28: 1-10)

Beloved Jesus, you met the disciples on the road after you had risen from the dead. In love and joy they embraced your Holy Feet and paid you homage. May we also worship you as Lord and Savior, embracing your Holy Feet. In your infinite mercy, please take our requests to the Father whose glory you share. (Make requests here.)

Holy Feet of Jesus we kiss you and adore you. (Pray the Our Father ten times.)

Day Nine – God puts all things under the Holy Feet of Jesus (1 Co. 15: 25)

Beloved Jesus, your reign will last until you have placed all your enemies under your Holy Feet. May our prayers and sacrifices hasten the day of your coming in glory. Risen Lord, merciful King, look with favor on our requests and grant them according to your holy will. (Make requests here.)

Holy Feet of Jesus we kiss you and adore you. (Pray the Our Father ten times.)

When my husband and I came back to the CC, after being away for 26 years in 3 different evangelical fellowships, I was “all about the feet of Jesus!” I was taking photos of the Holy Feet of our Lord all the time, as we traveled about on little pilgrimages/photo junkets around where we live, to photograph the lovely houses of God on the prairie. So many glorious houses of worship, where Jesus lives in the tabernacles dotting the plains with his grace, like jewels in the sun, amid tall prairies grasses. Inside these “gems on the prairie” were the most lovely of statues I’d ever seen. Having not been raised Catholic, but truly converting only 5 years ago, I was in awe of the art, the stained glass windows and the crucifixes and instantly to His Feet! I would tear up contemplating them at times, the “FEET” how they had suffered, carrying PURITY, for 33 years, then being spat on, bloodied, bruised, and finally nailed to a cross, wounded for “our transgressions.” I was always seeing and talking about “His Feet.” I took so many photos of those Precious Feet.

Now, this morning, I go to Mark Mallett’s blog, read his latest post, see your link, come here and find what? HIS HOLY FEET! I was being drawn to His Feet again only the last couple of weeks, too! This is a real affirmation to me that I’m “on the RIGHT path” and although I don’t deserve such consolation, I’m full of gratitude now for having found this lovely novena to the most tender, precious and holiest of Feet. What strikes me is before they were scraped, bruised, bloodied and wounded by nails, they were bathed in tears. That’s where we need to run now, straight to the most Blessed Holy Precious Feet.

For it’s at the ‘foot’ of the Cross, where the last drop of purest blood dripped to the ground from the toes of those Holy Feet that we all need to be, to prepare our hearts to be steadfast to ‘run with perseverance’ the race, on our physical and spiritual feet, to fall again at His Holy Feet, laying our crowns at those Feet, kissing those Feet still scarred but glorified, resplendent, beaming with heavenly radiance washing them not in tears of sorrow, but of glorious, profound and deepest joy!

Thank you for this novena. I will print it and use it and share it with my friends,

Welcome Susie! Praise God for this testimony! It is a confirmation for me too. I praise God for leading you to the “foot” of his cross. May your tears of love and joy win souls for the kingdom.

Peace.

Thank you for the novena, I kiss the Holy Feet of Jesus every
morning when I wake up. I can see his feet tired and bloody, worn
from going through all the places he must go, calling and urging
people to love him. And yes, turned away from those who ignore
him. Let us anoint his feet with Love and make reparation.

I am overwhelmed as I write this. Over the last few months, I have been struggling with my prayer life. I find myself suddenly not knowing how or what to pray. Believe me there are many situations and persons within my family needing prayer but it’s like I don’t know what to say. During my attempts at prayer, what comes to mind is to “sit at the feet of Jesus and to wipe them with my tears.” As a matter of fact, today was a difficult day and I went to our church during my lunch hour and simply sat before the tabernacle. Once again I was reiminded to sit at the feet of Jesus. I too was led to your sight via Mark Mallett’s blog, and was amazed to see your Novena to the feet of Jesus. Thank you so much. I have printed it and will begin to pray it.
Thank you again and God Bless You.

May the novena bring you peace in your prayer life.

Don’t forget to pray the Rosary, even if you are struggling. One thing I like about the Rosary (and there are many things to love about it) is that we don’t have to FEEL it. We just have to DO it as well as we are able at the time. That is a very humble way to pray since there is nothing to tempt us to pride. Our Lord does not depend on the perfection of our prayers in order to answer them. He takes us as we are. Don’t give up. Just keep praying.

Personally, I always spend my prayers on souls, because that is Our Lady’s strongest desire. At the same time I place all my needs, wants, desires, and all those God has given me to pray for (including those who have asked for my prayers) in the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Some time ago I felt the Lord tell me, “You take care of my business and I will take care of yours.” It took me a long time to realize that God’s business is souls. I have found this a very effective way to pray. And it’s simple–Mary handles everything!

God bless you dear sister.

Praise God! Thank you for writing, Christine–I have goosebumps! I have heard that piece performed and it is magnificent. I am humbled that our Lord would inspire you to use the novena to prepare for your performance. But our Lord is so good at putting pieces and people together. All glory and praise to our God! Amen.

(For anyone who is interested here is a recording.)

I love your novena to the Holy Feet of Jesus! I am a vocalist and I am preparing to sing “How Beautiful are the Feet” (from Handel’s Messiah) on Nov.1. I will pray this in preparation of my performance! Jesus and Mary bless you!
